Rajshree Upadhyaya | Business Remedies | April 21,2025 | In 2012, Pallavi Gupta faced a turning point. A lupus diagnosis left her drained, inflamed, and endlessly rotating through doctors and medications that offered little relief. Having co-founded the successful QSR chain Mast Kalandar and spent years in the food business, she was used to fast-paced problem-solving, but this was different. The shift came from a friend’s suggestion: change your food. She cut out gluten, dairy, and refined sugars, leaned into Ayurvedic and plant-based eating, and within six months, her symptoms had significantly eased. She felt clearer, healthier, and far more present. It changed everything.

Food, once a source of joy, became a tool for healing. Pallavi began to see just how disconnected people had become from traditional Indian food wisdom. The fast-food culture had pushed away time-tested ingredients and recipes handed down through generations. She realized that reviving this heritage could be powerful, not just for herself, but for many others seeking health without compromise. That insight became her purpose.

In 2017, Pallavi launched Nutty Yogi, a brand rooted in clean eating, Indian tradition, and honest ingredients. The name reflected her philosophy, life is chaotic, but food can center us. To stay authentic, she spent nine months traveling across India, meeting farmers, foragers, and artisans. From Himalayan grain fields to Kerala’s spice gardens, she discovered stories and practices that had stood the test of time. These journeys shaped Nutty Yogi’s product line, nutrient-dense, simple foods reflective of India’s diverse culinary culture.

Today, Nutty Yogi offers over 250 products, from cold-pressed oils and millet flours to gut-friendly spice blends, detox powders, and snacks like roasted chana jor. Everything is free from preservatives and refined sugars, and often sweetened with jaggery, coconut sugar, or dates. What sets the brand apart is its modern packaging of ancient wisdom, offering everyday pantry staples in a form that’s accessible, tasty, and beneficial.

The response has been powerful. Nutty Yogi moved quickly from a direct-to-consumer brand to being present on platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Bigbasket, and in retail chains like Nature’s Basket. In 2022, it secured Rs. 5 crore in funding led by Multiply Ventures, boosting production and reach. With a loyal customer base, especially health-conscious women aged 28 to 50, the brand now fulfills over 200,000 orders monthly, with a 52% repeat rate.

Behind the scenes, the company maintains tight control with in-house manufacturing and regular innovation to keep up with evolving dietary preferences. Yet, its heart remains the same. The quirky leaping yogi logo captures Pallavi’s belief: food should be fun, vibrant, and healing. Clean eating, to her, isn’t about harsh rules, it’s about awareness and balance.

More than a brand, Nutty Yogi is a movement. Pallavi is reigniting India’s traditional food knowledge for the modern world, showing that small changes, like switching to unrefined oils or choosing millet over maida, can make a big impact. Her story, born from illness, has grown into a wider conversation around food, heritage, and wellbeing.

As Nutty Yogi steps into global markets like Singapore, Dubai, and Sydney, its roots remain firmly in Indian soil. Pallavi continues to lead with intention, always returning to the idea that while life may be nutty, eating like a yogi can help us stay grounded, joyful, and well.
