Rajshree Upadhyaya | Jaipur  | Business Remedies | The journey of Ashish Godghate and his startup Awayddings began with a deep understanding of how complex and expensive destination weddings in India can become. Founded in 2021 by Ashish Godghate along with Vijay Kumar, the idea emerged from Ashish’s prior experience in the wedding industry, where he closely observed the chaos couples faced while planning weddings across cities. From dealing with multiple vendors to navigating unclear pricing and last-minute surprises, the process often became overwhelming.

This insight led to the creation of Awayddings as a platform designed to simplify and organize destination weddings.

Built as a tech-enabled service, Awayddings focuses on curating seamless wedding experiences across popular destinations such as Goa, Jaipur, Udaipur, and Rishikesh. The brand positioned itself not as a luxury-only service but as an accessible platform for couples who aspire to host destination weddings without losing financial control. Its offerings include end to end destination wedding planning, venue discovery and booking, decor and theme execution, guest hospitality management, and catering and logistics coordination. By bringing everything under one roof, the company aimed to eliminate fragmentation and provide a single, reliable touchpoint for customers.

A key differentiator for Awayddings has been its focus on transparency and affordability. In an industry often dominated by opaque pricing and negotiations, the startup introduced a more structured approach, helping customers understand costs upfront. This positioning helped the brand gain early traction, particularly among young, urban couples looking for curated yet cost-conscious wedding experiences.

The company gained national visibility after appearing on Shark Tank India Season 5 in 2026. During the pitch, the founders asked for Rs. 2 crore for 5% equity, valuing the business at Rs. 40 crore. They highlighted their early growth, including revenue close to Rs. 2 crore and a steadily increasing number of weddings executed across destinations. While the Sharks acknowledged the potential of the market, they also raised concerns about the operational intensity and scalability of a service-driven model.

After negotiations, a deal was secured with Aman Gupta, who offered Rs. 1 crore for 10% equity along with Rs. 1 crore as debt. The agreement not only brought in capital but also added strategic backing and credibility to the brand. This exposure significantly boosted Awayddings’ recognition among potential customers and partners.

At the time of its television appearance, the company had demonstrated promising traction, with Gross Merchandise Value reportedly exceeding Rs. 10 crore. A large share of its business came through referrals, reflecting customer satisfaction and trust, which are critical in the wedding services space. The founders focused on building a dependable vendor network and ensuring consistent execution across different locations, which helped strengthen their market position.

As of 2026, Awayddings is operational and continues to serve customers across multiple wedding destinations in India. The company maintains an active presence and is gradually expanding its reach while refining its service model. Its growth strategy revolves around improving technology integration, expanding destination options, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

Awayddings stands as an example of how traditional industries like wedding planning are evolving with the integration of technology and structured services. By addressing inefficiencies and prioritizing transparency, Ashish Godghate and his team are working to reshape how destination weddings are planned in India, making them more accessible, organized, and experience-driven for a new generation of couples.
