Jaipur | Rajshree Upadhyaya | Aditya Joshi, Akriti Swaroop and Apoorva Joshi established their identity by launching Sovrenn, a platform focused on research-based investing and financial learning, in 2023. The startup entered India’s rapidly growing fintech sector with a vision to simplify stock market research for retail investors.

The company was founded by a team that quickly gained attention for its strong academic and corporate backgrounds. Aditya studied at IIT Delhi and IIM Calcutta before working with companies such as Lenskart and Stanza Living. Akriti graduated from IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta, became a CFA charterholder, and worked with Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse. Apoorva, who also studied at IIT Delhi and IIM Calcutta, brought strategy and operational experience to the business.

The idea for Sovrenn emerged from a simple observation. The founders noticed that many Indian retail investors heavily depended on scattered online advice, social media discussions, and unverified market tips while making investment decisions. They believed that long-term investing required deeper understanding rather than emotional trading or speculation. This thinking led to the creation of a platform focused on research-based investing and financial learning.

Sovrenn gradually developed stock discovery tools, company analysis systems, portfolio tracking services, and financial education content aimed at helping users study businesses in a more systematic manner. What differentiated the startup from many fintech platforms was its research-intensive approach. The founders explained that they manually studied annual reports, earnings statements, investor presentations, and corporate filings to generate insights for users. Instead of positioning itself as a brokerage platform, Sovrenn focused on becoming an investing research ecosystem for retail participants.

The startup later introduced features that helped investors identify companies using logic-based filters while also tracking important updates related to businesses and portfolios. Alongside this, the company expanded into premium research content, investor learning programmes, and market education resources primarily targeted at millennials and first-time Gen Z stock market investors.

Praised For Clarity, Confidence And Financial Market Understanding

The company gained nationwide recognition after appearing on Shark Tank India Season 5. During the pitch, the founders asked for Rs. 1 crore in exchange for 1 percent equity, valuing the business at Rs. 100 crore.

The sharks appreciated the founders’ clarity, confidence, and understanding of financial markets. Their educational credentials and structured approach impressed the panel, and several sharks acknowledged that the team possessed strong expertise in the field.
However, the discussion eventually shifted towards scalability and the future role of artificial intelligence in investment research. Some sharks questioned whether a model heavily dependent on manual analysis could compete with rapidly growing AI-powered fintech platforms.

Despite strong business numbers and a growing subscriber base, Sovrenn ultimately left the show without securing an investment deal. Even without funding from the show, the startup generated significant online traction afterward.

Brand Focuses On Long-Term Investing Awareness
Many viewers praised the founders for promoting disciplined investing and financial literacy rather than encouraging speculative trading culture. Discussions across social media reflected mixed opinions. Some users appreciated Sovrenn’s detailed research quality, while others believed the company would need stronger AI integration for long-term scalability.
Nevertheless, the visibility from Shark Tank India helped the brand strengthen its identity among young investors looking for structured market research tools.

As of 2026, Sovrenn appears to remain active within India’s fintech ecosystem. The company continues to maintain its digital presence and investing platform while positioning itself as a research-driven brand focused on long-term investing awareness.
Through a combination of equity research tools, investment tracking systems, and financial education services, Sovrenn has successfully created a distinct identity within India’s rapidly growing retail investing market.
