केंद्र सरकार ने कहा है कि वह देश में fisheries और aquaculture sector के comprehensive development को निरंतर बढ़ावा दे रही है। सरकार द्वारा transformative initiatives को लागू किया जा रहा है, जिनका उद्देश्य sustainable growth, technology adoption और रोजगार सृजन को मजबूत करना है। पिछले कुछ वर्षों में central government investment में उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि दर्ज की गई है।
सरकार के अनुसार, वर्ष 2015 में इस initiative की शुरुआत के बाद से fisheries sector के लिए कुल 38,572 करोड़ रुपये के cumulative investment को विभिन्न schemes के तहत मंजूरी दी गई है या इसकी घोषणा की गई है। इन investments से sector की infrastructure क्षमता में सुधार हुआ है और fish production को गति मिली है, जिससे rural और coastal क्षेत्रों में livelihood के नए अवसर बने हैं।
Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying राजीव रंजन सिंह 5 जनवरी 2026 को तेलंगाना में general body meeting के बाद Smart Green Aquaculture Farm and Research Institute तथा state-of-the-art Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS) Facility का उद्घाटन करेंगे। Smart Green Aquaculture Limited द्वारा स्थापित यह India की पहली commercial-scale tropical RAS आधारित Rainbow Trout Aquaculture facility है, जिसे Indian aquaculture के विकास में एक महत्वपूर्ण watershed moment माना जा रहा है।
तेलंगाना के रंगा रेड्डी जिला स्थित Kandukur Mandal में यह परियोजना यह सिद्ध करती है कि Rainbow Trout जैसी high-value cold-water species को tropical climate में पूरे वर्ष farm किया जा सकता है। मंत्रालय के अनुसार, यह project youth के लिए live training और demonstration platform के रूप में भी कार्य कर रहा है, जबकि cold water fisheries को fisheries sector के एक high-potential segment के रूप में स्थापित करने में मदद कर रहा है, जिससे hill states और mountainous regions में economic growth को बल मिल रहा है।
