Rajshree Upadhyaya | Business Remedies | With hard work and skill, four friends – Aman Rai, Anurag Dani, Rohit Patel, and Amal George – founded Aroleap and built a strong identity for their home-gym startup. All four had a similar vision and were former students of IIT Delhi. The discussions that began in late 2019 about combining fitness and technology eventually led to the establishment of Aroleap Fitness Private Limited in 2020.
The core offering of their startup is a compact, wall-mounted smart gym device branded as Aroleap X. It is a home-gym solution that introduces a new approach to strength training for small spaces. After nearly three years of experimentation and around fifteen prototypes, Aroleap X was launched in May 2022.
This device uses motor-driven electromagnetic resistance – a “digital weights” system that provides adjustable resistance from 2 kg to 75 kg. Through this technology, the founders aimed to replace bulky traditional weight equipment with an elegant, space-saving alternative.
Along with the hardware, Aroleap X comes with curated digital content – expert-designed workout sessions, goal-based programs, and AI-powered performance tracking. According to reports, users get access to over 100 hours of fitness content and more than 150 exercises covering different muscle groups. This combination of hardware and software has made Aroleap much more than just a home-gym vendor. It has evolved into a home-fitness ecosystem offering smart training, convenience, and data-driven guidance.
A Slim, Apartment-Friendly Design Becomes the Highlight
A major turning point for Aroleap came during Shark Tank India Season 3, where the founders presented their solution. They asked for Rs. 1 crore in exchange for 2.5% equity, valuing the company at Rs. 40 crore. All four sharks – Anupam Mittal, Peyush Bansal, Amit Jain, and Azhar Iqbal – liked the concept. The deal was eventually closed at Rs. 1 crore for 5% equity, bringing Aroleap’s valuation to Rs. 20 crore.
The sharks were highly impressed by the fact that a compact wall-mounted unit could provide a full-body gym experience, allowing exercises like squats, deadlifts, and bench presses in small spaces. Their pitch also highlighted Aroleap’s patented digital-weights technology and its slim, apartment-friendly design.
Even after Shark Tank, Aroleap continued to stay in the spotlight. It received extensive media coverage, and well-known industry leader Anand Mahindra publicly supported the product, appreciating Aroleap’s creative blend of engineering and fitness to solve real problems of city living.
Turning Everyday Problems Into Innovative Solutions
Aroleap’s journey reflects a powerful blend of technical ambition and societal need. What began as a shared dream among four friends grew into a startup that is transforming how space-constrained Indians think about fitness.
From sketches in an IIT classroom to a patented smart home gym and a televised pitch on India’s most popular entrepreneurship show, Aroleap managed to convert everyday challenges into innovative solutions. The founders turned the problem of limited space into an opportunity for design innovation, shaping hardware and software into a habit-changing platform, and leveraged Shark Tank’s visibility to amplify their brand story. For now, Aroleap stands as a large-scale experiment in bringing full-body strength training to urban Indian homes.
