When Shark Tank India Season 4 introduced BurgerBae, many viewers initially assumed it was a food venture. Instead, what walked onto the stage was a bold, youth driven direct to consumer streetwear brand that had grown out of Instagram culture and Gen Z fashion energy. BurgerBae was established in 2019 by Rohan Kashyap along with Ojasvee Kashyap and Janvi Sikaria, emerging from Ludhiana with the ambition to make trend focused fashion accessible while building a strong online community.
The idea took shape when Rohan began experimenting with fashion content on Instagram, curating outfits and tapping into street culture aesthetics that resonated deeply with young audiences. The traction was immediate and organic. What started as content creation quickly transformed into a full fledged business as followers began demanding to purchase the styles they saw online. Recognising this pull, the founders transitioned into a structured streetwear apparel business, launching collections that included graphic tees, oversized hoodies, coordinated co ord sets, stylish dresses, relaxed fit bottomwear, and statement sweatshirts tailored for India’s evolving youth market.
By the time BurgerBae appeared on national television, the brand had already served over two lakh customers and built a strong digital following running into lakhs on Instagram. Their pitch on Shark Tank India asked for Rs 1 crore in exchange for 2.5 percent equity, placing the company at a Rs 40 crore valuation. The sharks were initially surprised by the ambitious valuation, especially given the intensely competitive nature of the fashion industry, but they acknowledged the brand’s sharp positioning and strong online traction.
After negotiations, the founders accepted a revised deal of Rs 2 crore for 20 percent equity from Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, and Kunal Bahl. The deal brought BurgerBae’s valuation to approximately Rs 10 crore. Beyond the capital infusion, the partnership provided strategic mentorship and access to scaling expertise, especially valuable in a market where supply chain efficiency and customer experience can define long term survival.
BurgerBae positioned itself as more than just another clothing label. It emphasised community led design, frequently taking cues from social media engagement, influencer collaborations, and customer feedback to shape upcoming drops. The brand focused on limited releases and trend responsive production, allowing it to stay relevant in a fast changing fashion ecosystem. Its value proposition revolved around affordable pricing paired with bold silhouettes and youth centric styling, creating a bridge between aspirational streetwear and accessible everyday fashion.
In the years following its Shark Tank appearance, BurgerBae continued operating actively. Its official website remains functional and regularly updated with new launches, and its social media channels show ongoing engagement and promotional campaigns. As of 2026, BurgerBae is operational and continues selling its apparel collections directly to customers through its online platform, maintaining its presence in India’s competitive D2C fashion landscape.
Like many fast scaling digital brands, BurgerBae has faced the operational pressures that come with rapid growth, including discussions online around delivery timelines and customer service responsiveness. However, the brand’s sustained online activity and product launches indicate that it remains a functioning and evolving business rather than a short lived television moment. BurgerBae’s journey reflects the power of digital first entrepreneurship in modern India. From an Instagram experiment in 2019 to securing investment on Shark Tank India and building a recognisable youth fashion label, the brand illustrates how community, bold branding, and social media momentum can convert cultural relevance into commercial opportunity.
