Rajshree Upadhyaya | Business Remedies | Gaurav Palrecha stepped into the evolving Indian health food space with a clear intention of redefining everyday snacking by blending nutrition with taste. Madmix was established in 2022 as a Mumbai-based food brand that focuses on offering healthier alternatives to traditional processed snacks. Coming from a business-oriented background, Palrecha identified the rising demand for convenient yet nutritious food options among urban consumers who were increasingly conscious about ingredients, oil content, and preservatives. With this understanding, he launched Madmix to introduce snacks that retained the familiar flavours loved by Indian consumers while aligning with modern wellness preferences.

From its inception, Madmix built its identity around the use of nutrient-rich grains and superfoods. The company specialised in developing baked millet based snacks, positioning them as lower oil and preservative free substitutes to fried namkeen products widely consumed across India. The brand gradually built a diversified product range featuring millet bhujia, quinoa puffs, and raisin based snacks, each designed to offer a balance between taste and health benefits. By incorporating ingredients such as jowar, quinoa, and other millet varieties, the brand targeted consumers seeking gluten free and plant based snack options. Madmix also expanded into the convenience cooking category by introducing ready to cook premixes including dosa mixes idli mixes chilla mixes bread mixes and flour blends, allowing families to prepare healthier meals using easy and quick cooking solutions.

The company’s early growth was driven by a multi channel distribution strategy. Madmix leveraged direct to consumer online platforms to reach health conscious buyers while simultaneously expanding its presence in retail stores, school canteens, corporate cafeterias, and modern trade outlets. This distribution model helped the brand increase product accessibility and build consumer awareness about millet based snacking. Madmix also explored export opportunities and gradually entered international markets such as the United States, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Nepal, showcasing its ambition to position Indian superfood based snacks on a global stage.

Madmix gained widespread national visibility after its appearance on Shark Tank India, where Gaurav Palrecha pitched the brand with the goal of scaling production and expanding distribution networks. He sought an investment of ₹50 lakh for 1 percent equity, valuing the company at ₹50 crore. During the pitch, Palrecha highlighted the growing consumer shift toward healthier snacking and demonstrated how Madmix was attempting to bridge the gap between taste and nutrition. The sharks appreciated the product concept and the rising demand for millet based snacks but expressed concerns regarding pricing strategies, product positioning, and long term scalability. After negotiations, entrepreneur Ritesh Agarwal offered ₹50 lakh for 5 percent equity, valuing the company at ₹10 crore while offering mentorship and strategic support for business expansion.

At the time of its television appearance, Madmix was witnessing strong consumer acceptance and reported growing annual revenues estimated at around ₹4 to ₹5 crore. The brand used the exposure from the show to enhance marketing visibility, strengthen its supply chain, and increase retail partnerships across multiple cities. It also continued to focus on product innovation, ensuring that healthy snacking options remained flavourful and accessible to a wide consumer base.

Madmix is currently operational and continues to expand its footprint within India’s rapidly growing healthy snack segment. The company remains committed to promoting millet based nutrition while developing convenient snack and cooking solutions that suit modern lifestyles. Through its evolving product portfolio, expanding distribution channels, and focus on health driven innovation, Madmix represents a new generation of Indian food startups that aim to transform traditional eating habits by combining taste, nutrition, and convenience into a unified snacking experience.
