Food delivery platforms Swiggy और Zomato ने nationwide gig workers strike call के बीच peak hours और year-end days के दौरान delivery workers के लिए higher incentives लागू किए हैं Delivery worker unions ने pay, working conditions और social security की कमी के विरोध में December 25 और December 31 को strike का आह्वान किया था। इस call के बाद platforms ने incentive strategy को मजबूत किया है।
Zomato का incentive plan और payout details
Zomato ने New Year’s Eve के आसपास higher order volumes को देखते हुए 6 pm से 12 am के बीच peak hours में प्रति order Rs 120–150 का payout देने की घोषणा की है।
Company ने order volumes और availability के आधार पर पूरे दिन में Rs 3,000 तक की earnings का promise किया है। Income risk को कम करने के लिए platform ने order denials और cancellations पर penalties को temporary रूप से waive किया है। Swiggy ने December 31, 2025 और January 1, 2026 के दौरान delivery workers के लिए Rs 10,000 तक की earnings offer की हैं। New Year’s Eve पर 6 pm से 12 am के बीच peak-hour pay Rs 2,000 तक रखा गया है। Quick commerce player Zepto ने भी delivery partners के incentives में बढ़ोतरी की है।
पहले strike का असर और unions का दावा
December 25, 2025 की strike के दौरान food delivery में brief और localised disruptions देखे गए, हालांकि platforms ने दिन के बाद operations के stabilise होने की बात कही। Unions ने wider participation का दावा किया और December 31, 2025 के लिए continued mobilisation की अपील की है। NSE पर Swiggy Limited shares Rs 390.55 पर priced रहे, जो पिछले five days में Rs 13.45 या 3.33 प्रतिशत नीचे रहे। इसी अवधि में Zomato की parent company Eternal Limited Rs 5.60 या 1.96 प्रतिशत गिरकर Rs 280 पर आ गई।
Legal framework और social security provisions
India में gig और platform workers को Code on Social Security, 2020 के तहत formal legal recognition, portable social-security benefits और e-Shram के माध्यम से national registration framework का लाभ मिलता है। Social Security code के अनुसार aggregators को annual turnover का 1–2 प्रतिशत योगदान देना होता है, जो gig और platform workers को किए गए या payable payments के 5 प्रतिशत तक capped रहता है, और यह राशि Social Security Fund में जमा की जाती है।
