In December 2023, he stepped into the world of artificial intelligence with the launch of Krutrim AI. The name, derived from the Sanskrit word for “artificial,” symbolized his aspiration to build India’s very own AI ecosystem, one that catered specifically to local languages. Within months, Krutrim AI secured a staggering $50 million in funding, catapulting it into unicorn status with a valuation exceeding a billion dollars. Leveraging cutting-edge technology, including Intel Gaudi 2 clusters and partnerships with Databricks, Krutrim positioned itself as a serious contender in the AI space. Aggarwal boldly claimed that his AI model outperformed GPT-4 in Indian languages, supporting over 20 dialects and trained on two trillion tokens. His vision is clear—India would not just adopt AI but build its own, competing with global giants on its own terms.
With his disruptive approach and fearless innovation, Aggarwal has often been compared to Elon Musk.
