Rajshree Upadhyaya | Business Remedies | Annu Grover has carved a niche for himself by launching Nurturing Green, one of India’s leading plant-gifting startups. His journey began with a simple yet powerful realization that eventually evolved into a thriving business centered on plants and sustainability. Founded in 2010, the company was born out of a personal experience that made Grover rethink how people express emotions through gifts.

While studying abroad, Grover once sent a bouquet of flowers to his mother. When he called her the next day, she casually mentioned that the flowers had already been thrown away after they wilted. That brief moment sparked an idea in his mind. If flowers fade within a day, why not give a gift that stays alive and continues to grow? This question ultimately became the foundation of Nurturing Green. The brand’s mission was to replace short-lived floral gifts with living plants that last much longer. When Grover returned to India, he decided to turn this idea into a business. At that time, plant gifting was not a widely explored concept in the country. Most people were accustomed to traditional bouquets for celebrations and special occasions.

Nurturing Green introduced the concept of live plant gifting, presenting plants as thoughtful gifts symbolizing growth, care, and longevity. Unlike flowers that wilt quickly, a plant can stay with the recipient for years, constantly reminding them of the person who gifted it. This idea resonated with a growing group of consumers who were becoming more aware of sustainability and responsible consumption.
In its early years, the company focused on spreading awareness about plant gifting while gradually expanding its product portfolio. Nurturing Green began offering indoor plants, living plant bouquets, decorative planters, and green home décor products designed for modern urban homes and office spaces. The brand also introduced plant care solutions and gardening accessories to help customers maintain their plants easily. By positioning plants not just as gardening items but as lifestyle products that enhance interiors and well-being, the company successfully connected with urban consumers looking to create greener living spaces.

Expanding Reach Through E-Commerce, Retail Outlets, and Corporate Gifting Partnerships
Behind the scenes, Nurturing Green invested significantly in building a reliable supply chain. The company grows plants in controlled polyhouses and conducts strict quality checks before delivering them to customers. This strong focus on quality became a key differentiator in a market where many customers were still unfamiliar with caring for indoor plants.

One of the brand’s unique customer assurances is its lifetime warranty on plants, allowing customers to replace them at a minimal cost if they fail to thrive. This distinctive promise helped remove hesitation among first-time buyers and encouraged more people to experiment with indoor greenery.

Over time, the company expanded its reach through e-commerce platforms, retail outlets, and corporate gifting partnerships. Its products are available across various price ranges, making plant gifting accessible for individual buyers as well as large corporate orders.
Gradually, the brand established itself as one of the early pioneers promoting green gifting in India, popularizing the idea that plants can be meaningful gifts for occasions ranging from birthdays and anniversaries to corporate events.

Nurturing Green gained nationwide recognition when Annu Grover appeared on Shark Tank India Season 4 to pitch his business to investors. During the pitch, he asked for Rs. 1 crore in exchange for 1% equity, valuing the company at Rs. 100 crore. After negotiations, he finalized a deal with Vineeta Singh, which included Rs. 50 lakh for 1.25% equity and Rs. 50 lakh as debt, valuing the company at around Rs. 40 crore. This appearance helped the brand reach a much wider audience and highlighted the growing demand for plant-based gifting solutions in India.

Aiming for Significant Scale in the Coming Years
Financially, the company has shown steady growth over the past few years. Nurturing Green recorded revenue of approximately Rs. 11.8 crore in FY 2021-22 and around Rs. 13.8 crore in FY 2022-23. With the rising popularity of indoor plants, sustainable gifting, and green décor, the company anticipates further expansion and aims to scale significantly in the coming years.

Today, Nurturing Green operates actively across India, selling plants and plant-based décor products through online platforms, marketplaces, and retail channels. What started as a simple idea to replace disposable bouquets has evolved into a brand built on the belief that gifting something living creates a deeper emotional connection while bringing a touch of nature into everyday life.
