Rajshree Upadhyaya |  Business Remedies | By blending global flavours with India’s local palate, two engineers – Akashdeep Daan and Sandeep Singh – established Uncle Peter’s Pancakes and built a distinct identity in India’s food landscape. Their early experiments began around 2017, when they started testing recipes, formats, and flavours that could work consistently across cities. By 2019, a more structured brand was launched, marking the official beginning of Uncle Peter’s Pancakes.
This two-phase evolution – from experimentation to full-scale entrepreneurship – shaped their journey, fuelled by continuous improvements in taste, texture, and consistency. Their initial focus was perfecting the batter-soft, fluffy, and universally loved. The founders realised that India needed its own authentic style of pancakes, ideally suited for a largely vegetarian market. Without compromising on flavour or texture, they developed a fully eggless recipe. This became the foundation of the brand’s entire menu-from classic syrup-topped stacks to more adventurous plated desserts.
Over time, the brand expanded its menu to include pancakes, crepes, waffles, and signature molten-style creations-transforming a simple breakfast dish into an all-day indulgence.
A Multi-Shark Investment From Three Investors
Once the founders understood that consistency was crucial for scale, they built Uncle Peter’s Pancakes as a QSR-style, franchise-ready model. The idea was simple: a format that could work equally well in metros and Tier 2-Tier 3 cities without compromising quality.
Their outlets featured compact kitchens, standardised processes, and menus designed for both dine-in and delivery. This dual-format approach allowed franchise partners to choose what best suited local real estate and spending patterns. It gave the brand a flexible and rapidly scalable structure. Their appearance on Shark Tank India became a defining moment. The pitch stood out not only for the story but also for the product tasting, which impressed the sharks. They secured a multi-shark investment from three investors.
The deal-reportedly Rs. 60 lakh for about 3% equity with a royalty component until a fixed recovery-validated the business’s unit economics and scalability. It also brought nationwide visibility, accelerating franchise inquiries across India.
Expansion Through Kiosks and Cafe-Style Outlets
Away from the cameras, Uncle Peter’s Pancakes continued rapid expansion. The brand opened both small pancake kiosks and larger cafe-style outlets across multiple cities. By partnering with major food delivery platforms, they ensured strong sales even in markets where dine-in footfall was uncertain.
The menu kept evolving, introducing seasonal specials and global flavours to maintain novelty for regular customers. Surprisingly, the brand saw strong demand in smaller towns as well, where people embraced premium yet affordable alternatives to regular bakery options.
Today, Uncle Peter’s Pancakes is fully operational with active outlets across multiple Indian cities. Regular customer reviews and ongoing franchise activity reflect the brand’s sustained growth. The brand maintains high online visibility through delivery apps, social platforms, and user-generated posts that highlight daily business activity. The founders remain active online, announcing new stores and menu updates-reinforcing their continuous progress and expansion.
A Simple Craving Turned Into a National Brand
The story of Akashdeep Daan and Sandeep Singh is essentially about transforming a simple food craving into a large-scale national brand. With a carefully crafted eggless recipe, a replicable QSR model, and a diverse menu of pancakes, crepes, and waffles, they created a homegrown chain that continues to grow rapidly.
From early kitchen experiments to Shark Tank and nationwide expansion, their journey shows how a focused idea-supported by disciplined execution-can evolve into a well-known name in India’s dynamic QSR landscape.
