India boosts API manufacturing और pharma sector को मिलती है नई strength

India ने domestic Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing को strengthen करने के लिए बड़ा कदम उठाया है. Government के अनुसार, Promotion of Bulk Drug Parks scheme के तहत पिछले three and a half years में Rs 4,763.34 crore का investment किया जा चुका है, जबकि six years के लिए commitment Rs 4,329.95 crore थी, जो already exceed हो चुकी है. यह investment greenfield projects में किया गया है ताकि देश में bulk drug production capacity बढ़ाई जा सके.

💊 API Supply security पर फोकस

PLI scheme for Bulk Drugs का main aim critical APIs की supply disruption को रोकना है. Earlier, भारत कई essential APIs के लिए single-source imports पर overly dependent था, जिससे risk बढ़ता था. इस scheme के जरिए government supply chain stability सुनिश्चित करना चाहती है ताकि life-saving medicines की availability प्रभावित न हो.

Scheme का total budgetary outlay Rs 6,940 crore है, जो bulk drug ecosystem को strong बनाने के लिए allocate किया गया है.

🏭 Local production में बड़ा उछाल

Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Anupriya Patel ने Rajya Sabha में बताया कि scheme के तहत 26 KSMs/DIs/APIs की production capacity create की गई है, जिन्हें पहले mainly import किया जाता था.

अब तक, cumulative sales Rs 2,315.44 crore तक पहुंच चुकी हैं, जिनमें से Rs 508.12 crore exports से आए हैं. इसके साथ ही करीब Rs 1,807.32 crore worth imports avoid किए गए हैं, जो India के लिए a major strategic gain माना जा रहा है.

💼 PLI for Pharmaceuticals: Investment boom

PLI Scheme for Pharmaceuticals का उद्देश्य सिर्फ APIs तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि high-value medicines की manufacturing को बढ़ावा देना भी है. इसमें biopharmaceuticals, complex generics, patented drugs, autoimmune and anti-cancer medicines जैसी advanced categories शामिल हैं.

इस scheme का outlay Rs 15,000 crore है, लेकिन surprisingly, September 2025 तक committed investment Rs 17,275 crore के target को पार करते हुए actual investment Rs 40,890 crore तक पहुंच गया है. यह investment both brownfield और greenfield projects में हुआ है.

🧪 Production diversity में historical growth

अब तक, scheme के तहत 726 APIs/KSMs/DIs manufacture किए जा रहे हैं, जिनमें से 191 products पहली बार India में बने हैं. यह देश के pharma industry के लिए diversification और innovation की दिशा में एक बड़ा milestone माना जा रहा है.

Total domestic sales Rs 26,123 crore तक पहुंच चुकी हैं, जिससे heavy import dependence कम हुआ है और “Make in India” initiative को strong push मिला है.

📅 Scheme timeline and future outlook

Minister ने बताया कि scheme की tenure FY 2028–29 तक है. आने वाले वर्षों में government का लक्ष्य India को सिर्फ “pharmacy of the world” नहीं, बल्कि global API manufacturing hub बनाना है.

Experts मानते हैं कि increased domestic capacity से prices stable रहेंगे, medicines accessible होंगी और India की strategic autonomy और मजबूत होगी ✅
