Rajshree Upadhyaya | Business Remedies | In the fast growing city of Surat in Gujarat, where manufacturing ambition meets entrepreneurial hunger, Yash Avinash Tarwadi and Nilesh Maheshbhai Shah found themselves questioning why solar energy adoption in India remained so complicated despite abundant sunlight and rising power costs. Both engineers by training, they observed that while awareness around renewable energy was increasing, the actual process of shifting to solar was riddled with confusion, opaque pricing, unverified vendors, and scattered service providers. This gap between intent and execution became the foundation of Solnce Energy Private Limited, which was officially established in 2021 with the aim of simplifying solar adoption for households and businesses alike.

From the very beginning, Solnce was envisioned not as a hardware manufacturer but as an enabler. Instead of selling panels directly, the founders focused on creating a technology driven ecosystem that could remove friction from every stage of the solar journey. This led to the development of the Solnce App, positioned as an all in one digital platform where users could explore solar solutions, compare prices, and connect with trusted installers without navigating multiple offline touchpoints. The idea was simple but powerful: make going solar as easy and transparent as booking a service online.

As the platform evolved, Solnce expanded its offerings beyond discovery and comparison. The company began facilitating solar installation services for residential rooftops as well as commercial and industrial properties, ensuring end to end coordination from site assessment to final commissioning. Alongside installations, Solnce introduced solar financing assistance, helping customers access loans and payment plans that reduced the upfront burden often associated with renewable energy investments. To ensure long term performance, the startup also incorporated solar system maintenance and cleaning services, addressing a frequently overlooked but critical aspect of solar efficiency.

This integrated approach allowed Solnce to gain early traction, particularly among first time solar buyers who were previously hesitant due to lack of clarity and trust in the market. By the time the founders appeared on Shark Tank India Season 4 in early 2025, Solnce had already facilitated installations for more than a thousand residential customers and over a hundred commercial clients across different parts of India. Their pitch highlighted not just environmental impact but also strong unit economics and scalability in a market where demand for alternative energy solutions was accelerating.

On the Shark Tank stage, Yash Avinash Tarwadi and Nilesh Shah presented Solnce as a technology led solar marketplace rather than a traditional energy company. They sought an investment of Rs. 1 crore for a small equity stake, valuing their platform on its growth potential and service driven model. The Sharks examined the competitive landscape, particularly the presence of large energy players, but were impressed by Solnce’s execution, customer traction, and clarity of purpose. Aman Gupta ultimately invested Rs. 1 crore for a 2.5 percent stake, providing not only capital but also strategic mentorship to support brand building and scale.

Following its Shark Tank India appearance, Solnce benefited from increased visibility and consumer trust, which further strengthened its position in the solar services space. Importantly, the company did not fade after the television exposure. As per official corporate records, Solnce Energy Private Limited continues to remain operational and is listed as an active entity, indicating sustained business activity beyond the show.
Today, Solnce represents a new generation of climate focused startups that prioritize accessibility over complexity. By blending digital tools with on ground execution, the founders have transformed solar adoption from a daunting project into a guided experience. Their journey reflects how thoughtful platform design and service integration can unlock large scale participation in clean energy, making solar power not just an aspiration but a practical choice for modern India.
