Indian startup ecosystem की growth में एक नया chapter जुड़ा, जब tier-2 cities से जुड़े 17 startups को government grants और investments मिले। Department of Science and Technology (DST) द्वारा supported incubator में incubated 12 startups को Rs 50 lakh के grant agreements दिए गए। यह announcement Tamil Nadu में आयोजित ‘Think Salem 2025’ startup conclave के दौरान हुई। इन startups को DST–NIDHI initiative के तहत support मिला, जिससे वे अपने business ideas को आगे बढ़ा सकें। इसके साथ ही Sona Incubations में संचालित ‘Startup India Seed Fund’ ने 5 startups में Rs 60 lakh का investment किया।
Salem-centered startup ecosystem में incubated ये ventures healthcare devices, mobility platforms, sustainability, drones, food innovation और applied deep-tech जैसे diverse sectors को cover करते हैं, जो ecosystem की growing maturity को दर्शाते हैं। Sona Incubation Foundation द्वारा managed Seed Fund से चुने गए 5 startups में diaper waste management, millet-based food products और immersive learning solutions प्रदान करने वाला एक ed-tech startup शामिल है। यह जानकारी Dr S. R.R. Senthilkumar, Executive Chair, Sona Incubations और Principal, Sona College of Technology ने दी। High Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) category में leading NervePro, एक Salem-based healthcare deep-tech startup, ने affordable और portable nerve-monitoring system develop किया है। यह system high-risk ENT और skull-base surgeries के दौरान facial nerves की protection के लिए design किया गया है, और startup ने proof-of-concept validation study complete की है।
AI, IoT और Drone Technology में Progress
Tamil Nadu का ही एक और startup IswiftPro–Min-Sakthi IoT और AI-enabled solution provide करता है, जो appliance-level energy consumption को digitise करके accurate forecasting, smart billing और energy efficiency enable करता है। Salem-based DroneTribes ने agriculture, security और training के लिए indigenously designed drones develop किए हैं और startup TRL 6 तक progress कर चुका है, जहां working prototypes और field deployments underway हैं। Kanyakumari-based Cabocab, एक ride-hailing platform, Tier-3 cities में operate करता है। TRL 9 के साथ startup last-mile connectivity improve करने पर focus करता है और metropolitan markets से बाहर faster commutes offer करता है।
Experts और Leaders की Insights
Dr T. S. Rao, Senior Advisor (Retd.), Union Department of Biotechnology ने कहा कि innovation तभी meaningful होता है जब वह public utility बने और ideas lab से society तक quality, scale और public–private partnership के माध्यम से पहुंचें। इन startup founders का background Salem, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirupur, Trichy, Hosur, Kanyakumari और Hyderabad से है, और इनके TRL levels early proof-of-concept से लेकर advanced prototype validation तक हैं। Sivakumar Palanisamy, Vice President और Chief of Staff, StartupTN ने कहा कि AI everyday life का हिस्सा बनेगा और future उन startups का होगा जो problems को redesign करें, solutions को personalise करें और skills build करें, न कि सिर्फ big-city addresses को chase करें।
