Jaipur | Rajshree Upadhyaya | Kinshuk Mishra, Atul Gupta, and Jahangir Mondal established their identity by launching Awenest in 2021, a brand focused on toxin-free home care and baby care products. The founders were inspired by the growing concern among modern parents regarding the chemicals present in everyday household products. While consumers had become increasingly conscious about what their children eat, drink, and wear, many often overlooked the cleaning products used around them. Recognizing this gap, the founders saw an opportunity to create safer alternatives.

Based in Mumbai and operating under Restore Systems Private Limited, Awenest entered a highly competitive market dominated by well-established consumer goods companies. Instead of competing solely on price, the startup focused on a clear mission: developing effective cleaning products made with safer ingredients for households with children. The company built its identity around transparency, sustainability, and chemical-conscious formulations, targeting a growing segment of Indian consumers seeking healthier lifestyles.
Over time, the brand expanded its portfolio to include toxin-free cleaning solutions, baby-safe home care products, toy cleaners, baby dishwashing liquids, laundry care products, food stain removers, multipurpose cleaners, and scribble removers-each designed specifically to address the challenges faced by families with young children.

Rather than positioning itself as just another cleaning brand, Awenest marketed itself as a trusted partner for parents looking for safer and more practical solutions to everyday household messes. Like many consumer startups, its early years involved educating customers about a category that was still relatively new in India. The founders invested significant effort in building trust and explaining why ingredient safety matters. Their focus on direct-to-consumer sales, digital marketing, and continuous product innovation helped the company steadily gain recognition among urban families. As awareness grew, so did the brand’s presence across e-commerce marketplaces and quick-commerce platforms.

Focused on Rising Consumer Demand for Safe Household Products
Awenest achieved one of its biggest milestones when the founders appeared on the TV show Shark Tank India. Seeking Rs. 70 lakh in exchange for 2 percent equity, they presented their vision of building India’s leading toxin-free home care brand for families. The pitch highlighted the company’s growth journey, expanding product range, and the increasing consumer demand for safer household products.

The sharks showed particular interest in the brand’s positioning, customer acquisition strategy, and its ability to scale within a category traditionally dominated by large FMCG players. During the negotiations, the founders received an offer from Viraj Bahl, founder of Veeba. Ultimately, they accepted an investment of Rs. 70 lakh for 5 percent equity. Beyond the funding itself, the deal provided access to the experience and guidance of an entrepreneur who had successfully built a major consumer brand in India, making the partnership strategically valuable for Awenest’s future growth.

Growing into a Well-Known Consumer Brand Serving Families
By the time it appeared on Shark Tank India, the company had already demonstrated strong momentum. Revenue grew significantly between FY24 and FY25, reflecting increasing demand for safe home care products and rising consumer preference for the brand. The founders also emphasized improving operational efficiency and expanding distribution channels as key priorities for the business. Today, Awenest continues to operate and expand its presence across online marketplaces, quick-commerce platforms, and retail channels. What began as a mission to create safer homes for children has evolved into a recognized consumer brand serving families across India. Through a combination of product innovation, purpose-driven branding, and the national visibility gained from Shark Tank India, Kinshuk Mishra and his co-founders have positioned Awenest as one of the emerging names in India’s toxin-free home care industry.
