भारत में logistics costs अब GDP का सिर्फ 7.97% हैं, जो पहले आम तौर पर बताए जाने वाले 13–14% के आंकड़ों से काफी कम है, according to official data from DPIIT और National Council of Applied Economic Research.

सरकार ने कहा कि PM GatiShakti, SMILE, LEAPS 2025, LEADS 2025, IPRS 3.0, LDB 2.0 जैसे कई पहल और green corridors logistics को केवल एक खर्च का केंद्र नहीं बल्कि competitive advantage बनाने में मदद कर रहे हैं.

1. SMILE (Strengthening Multimodal and Integrated Logistics Ecosystem)

   • आठ pilot cities में logistics infrastructure का मूल्यांकन

   • efficiency बढ़ाने और costs घटाने के लिए roadmap तैयार

2. Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC)

   • Wagon turnaround 15–16 दिन से घटकर 2–3 दिन

   • Transit time 60+ घंटे से घटकर 35–38 घंटे

   • Freight operations अब Prayagraj के central control centre से managed

3. Ganga Waterway Revival

   • Varanasi से EDFC को जोड़ा

   • Manufacturers अब cargo efficiently eastern ports जैसे Haldia तक भेज सकते हैं

4. Inland Waterways & Rail

   • Inland waterways ने पिछले साल 145.84 million tonnes cargo transport किया

   • Dedicated freight corridors के जरिए rail congestion कम किया जा रहा है
