Jaipur | Rajshree Upadhyaya | 9DXR Labs was founded in 2017 by Ajay Jain and Amit Shrivastava with a simple yet ambitious goal of making practical science education accessible to every student, regardless of whether their school had a fully equipped laboratory. Headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana, the company recognized that many schools struggled to provide hands-on experiments due to infrastructure, cost, and safety constraints. Instead of viewing these challenges as barriers, the founders turned to Extended Reality technology to create immersive learning experiences that could bring science lessons to life inside a virtual environment. Their vision was to replace passive learning with active participation, allowing students to understand concepts by experiencing them rather than merely reading about them.
This vision gave rise to a portfolio of innovative education solutions centered around XR Learning Platform, Virtual Reality Science Labs, Immersive STEM Learning Solutions, Hand Tracking Based Virtual Experiments, and Curriculum Aligned Digital Learning Modules. Designed for K-12 schools, these offerings enable students to perform science experiments, interact with virtual objects, and explore complex concepts in a safe and engaging setting. At the same time, teachers receive tools to manage lessons and monitor student progress, making immersive education practical for everyday classrooms. By combining modern technology with existing school curricula, 9DXR Labs positioned itself as more than a technology company-it became a partner in improving the quality of science education.
The startup gained nationwide recognition after appearing on Shark Tank India Season 5, where Ajay Jain presented the company’s vision before the panel of investors. Seeking Rs. 1 crore in exchange for 4 percent equity, the founders demonstrated how immersive learning could bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical understanding. Although the Sharks appreciated the innovation and the potential impact of the technology, the startup ultimately left the show without securing an investment. Even so, the national exposure introduced 9DXR Labs to a much wider audience of educators, schools, and technology enthusiasts, proving that a memorable pitch can generate visibility even without a deal.
Unlike many education technology companies focused primarily on recorded lectures or digital content, 9DXR Labs built its identity around experiential learning. Its immersive platform encourages students to actively participate in experiments, making difficult scientific concepts easier to visualize and understand. This approach is particularly valuable for schools with limited laboratory infrastructure, as students can safely conduct experiments in a virtual setting while remaining aligned with their academic syllabus. The company’s emphasis on interactive learning has helped it stand out in India’s increasingly competitive EdTech landscape, where engagement and practical understanding are becoming just as important as access to digital content.
Today, 9DXR Labs continues to operate as an active company, expanding its presence among educational institutions while promoting immersive classroom experiences powered by Extended Reality technology. Its continued operations demonstrate that the business has maintained its commitment to transforming science education beyond its Shark Tank India appearance. While the television journey did not end with an investment, the founders remained focused on refining their products and reaching more schools across the country. Their story reflects how identifying a genuine problem, embracing innovation, and staying committed to a long-term vision can help a startup build credibility and continue growing even when immediate funding does not materialize.
