UN Headquarters में हुआ आयोजन
World Cotton Day के अवसर पर India और Mali ने Cotton Sector में Value Chain को मजबूत करने, Smallholders और Artisans को समर्थन देने तथा Processing Capacity और Market Access बढ़ाने की संभावनाओं पर चर्चा की। यह कार्यक्रम United Nations Headquarters, New York में आयोजित किया गया।
India और Mali ने मिलकर की मेजबानी
Ministry of Textiles के अनुसार, United Nations में India और Mali के Permanent Missions ने संयुक्त रूप से कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया। इसमें India के Members of Parliament, विभिन्न Member States और International Organisations के प्रतिनिधियों ने हिस्सा लिया।
Cotton को आत्मनिर्भरता से जोड़ा
India के Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni ने Mahatma Gandhi और Cotton के ऐतिहासिक संबंध का उल्लेख किया। उन्होंने कहा कि Cotton और Spinning Wheel आत्मनिर्भरता, गरिमा और India के Freedom Struggle के महत्वपूर्ण प्रतीक रहे हैं।
चार प्राथमिकताओं पर जोर
Parvathaneni ने Producers की Livelihood मजबूत करने, Value Addition और Market Access बढ़ाने, Sustainability को प्रोत्साहित करने तथा Technology और International Partnerships को मजबूत करने की जरूरत बताई। उन्होंने Affordable Inputs, Finance और Smaller Enterprises के लिए बेहतर Support की भी वकालत की।
Mali ने Processing Capacity की चुनौती बताई
Mali के Permanent Representative Ambassador Issa Konfourou ने Cotton को देश की Economy और Rural Livelihoods के लिए महत्वपूर्ण बताया। उन्होंने Limited Processing Capacity, Input Costs और Market Access जैसी चुनौतियों पर प्रकाश डाला और India को महत्वपूर्ण Partner बताया।
Artisans और Textile Industry पर फोकस
Member of Parliament Asit Kumar Mal ने West Bengal की Kantha Embroidery का उदाहरण देते हुए Women Artisans के लिए Fair Remuneration, Affordable Credit और Market Access की जरूरत बताई। वहीं LK Sudhish ने Tamil Nadu की Cotton Knitwear और Garment Manufacturing Industry तथा PM MITRA Initiative के तहत विकसित हो रहे Integrated Textile Park की भूमिका पर प्रकाश डाला।
