🏗️ Ports Sector Highlights

  • Total port capacity: 1,400 MMTPA → 2,762 MMTPA

  • Net annual surplus: ₹1,026 Cr → ₹9,352 Cr

  • Operating ratio: 73% → 43%

  • Cargo handling: 972 MMT → 1,594 MMT

  • Major ports FY 2024-25: 855 million tonnes handled (FY 2023-24: 819 MMT)

  • Average vessel turnaround: 93 hours → 48 hours


🚢 Shipping & Coastal Growth

  • Indian-flagged vessels: 1,205 → 1,549

  • Gross tonnage: 10 MGT → 13.52 MGT

  • Coastal shipping cargo: 87 MMT → 165 MMT

  • Inland waterways cargo (IWAI): 18 MMT → 146 MMT (710% growth)

  • Operational waterways: 3 → 29

Haldia Multi-Modal Terminal handed over to IRC Natural Resources (Capacity: 3.08 MMTPA) under PPP model


👥 Workforce & Passenger Transport

  • Seafarers: 1.25 lakh → 3 lakh (12% of global workforce)

  • Ferry & Ro-Pax passengers 2024-25: 7.5 crore


💰 Financing & Shipbuilding

  • Maritime Development Fund (MDF): ₹25,000 Cr

  • Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme: ₹24,736 Cr

  • Shipbuilding Development Scheme: ₹19,989 Cr (Greenfield clusters, yard expansion, risk coverage)
