Charu Bhatia | Jaipur | Travelling is one of the most adventurous and looked-upto activities of our lives. We always wait to explore various cities, their architectures, their roads and of course, the foods and clothes that they have to offer. Visiting Indian cities can be boresome at times, especially when you have been to quite a few cities which are known for their Indian vibe like Jaipur, Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai etc. Then, what different does travelling to cities bring to you? Is it an international trip? We share with you some travel trends that are going to sway you to reject the traditional idea and concept of travelling.
OFF THE BEATEN PATH
Travellers are preferring to visit more obscure destinations, when it comes to international trips. Where once Canada and Italy were the places to be, in 2025, people are finding places like Azerbaijan and Oman a lot more worthwhile. Central Asia will be on the list because it’s easily accessible to Indians, especially from Delhi and Mumbai. So, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan will be attracting a lot of Indians. Travellers might want to experience safari holidays, for instance, a holiday to witness the wildebeest migration in Africa. This year’s trips may also include a fascination for observing the phenomenon of Northern Lights. Europe trips will continue, of course, but people will be a little more adventurous in 2025.
SUSTAINABILITY AT THE CORE
There will be more and more sustainable travel in 2025, and the flight is ready to take off. But while it’s easy to talk about it here, travelling sustainably requires solid ground for action. Adopt simple ways to be an eco-conscious traveller, use public transportation, especially in places where there is adequate availability. There are some amazing train routes around the world, so that’s something to be checked out. If you can be aware of how much air travel you’re undertaking, nothing like it. Also, avoid using single-use items like tissues and plastics and carry your own toiletry, water bottles, etc.
SOLO TRIPPING
Not just alt travel spots, but solo travel, especially among women, will be on the rise this year. Besides this, travelling with your good friends will be on the cards. Solo travel is gaining popularity amongst women. By travelling solo, one gets to be a different person; it doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from when you’re travelling by yourself. You learn many skills like crisis management, quick decision making and most importantly, self-love.
TRAVEL THERAPY
Taking a trip to heal your physical and mental self was a long time coming, and 2025 is the right year for that. All work and no play isn’t the best thing for your soul, and people have finally started realising that hustle culture can only weaken your own self, after a point of time. A lot of focus in 2025 will be on self-help and wellness. People are a bit more self-aware of the adverse effects of work, stress, and pollution these days. There’s an inclination towards wellness and therefore, wellness travel will be a huge thing. Besides travelling as a form of therapy, sleep tourism may gain traction too, especially among young working professionals. Sleep tourism can be meaningful in terms of a vacation where you can nap to your heart’s content and enjoy some well-deserved rest. This year, it’s going to be a lot more about alternative and offbeat holiday destinations. Travelling with your partner will continue as usual, but what will resonate more with travellers in 2025 is going on more holidays with good friends.
So, are you ready to hit the road?
