Rajshree Upadhyaya |Business Remedies |Savar and Tanisha Malhotra founded The House Party by Savar with the aim of transforming how people experience food at home celebrations. Their objective was not to start just another catering company, but to change the way dining is perceived and enjoyed during private gatherings at home.

Savar grew up in a family known for its strong roots in the Indian food business and received formal hospitality training at Les Roches, Switzerland. He brought with him a global exposure to food and a deep cultural understanding of Indian gatherings. In August 2022, along with his partner Tanisha Malhotra, he officially launched The House Party by Savar in Gurugram, converting his vision into a structured business that focused on premium experiences rather than volume-driven catering.

The idea behind the brand stemmed from a simple observation. While weddings and large-scale events in India had evolved to feature high-quality food and sophisticated presentation, house parties were still treated casually, often relying on repetitive menus and standard services. The House Party by Savar addressed this gap by offering luxury home catering services, bringing a restaurant-style experience into private homes.

Instead of fixed packages, the company created a highly customizable menu with over 750 dishes, allowing hosts to curate food based on their taste, the occasion, and guest profiles. This flexibility quickly became the brand’s strongest differentiator in a crowded catering market.
Equally important was the company’s focus on mindful operations. To reduce food wastage while maintaining premium presentation, The House Party by Savar introduced a portion-based serving model. The brand managed everything-from menu planning and ingredient sourcing to trained service staff and event execution-positioning itself as a one-stop solution for intimate dinners, birthday celebrations, festivals, and corporate house parties.

Over time, the company expanded beyond Delhi NCR to cities such as Mumbai and Chandigarh, catering to events ranging from small dinners for ten guests to large gatherings with several hundred attendees.

Showcasing a vision of personalized hospitality
Savar and Tanisha gained nationwide attention when they appeared on Shark Tank India Season 4, Episode 41. They shared details of their growing business and sought Rs. 1 crore for 5% equity, valuing the company at Rs. 20 crore. Their pitch highlighted not just food, but the brand’s philosophy of personalized hospitality.

The Sharks appreciated the scale of the menu and the quality of offerings, while also questioning branding choices, operational scalability, and long-term margins. A light-hearted moment occurred when Aman Gupta asked Savar why he chose to brand the company under his own name instead of leveraging his family’s established food legacy. Savar responded that building an independent identity was central to his entrepreneurial journey.

Continuing focus onpremium catering and curated event experiences
Ritesh Agarwal eventually offered Rs. 50 lakh for 5% equity, along with Rs. 50 lakh as debt at 8% interest for three years, valuing the company at approximately Rs. 10 crore. The deal was accepted on air; however, post-show discussions revealed that the founders later decided to step back from the agreement. Savar and Tanisha cited concerns over operational control and the need for flexibility in day-to-day decision-making, reflecting their desire to grow the business on their own terms.

Despite not finalizing the investment, the Shark Tank India appearance significantly boosted the brand’s visibility. Today, The House Party by Savar remains active and operational, continuing to offer premium catering services, curated event experiences, and specialized food offerings for both private and corporate clients.

From a young hospitality professional’s idea to a nationally recognized brand, Savar Malhotra’s journey represents a modern entrepreneurial path-built on ambition, independence, and a clear focus on elevating everyday celebrations through exceptional food and hospitality.
