भारत ने steel sector में hydrogen का उपयोग करने वाले pilot projects के लिए ₹455 करोड़ allocate किए हैं,
जो cleaner industrial production की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है।

यह funding National Green Hydrogen Mission के तहत Ministry of New & Renewable Energy द्वारा मंजूर की गई है और FY 2029–30 तक उपलब्ध रहेगी।

⚡ Objectives & Impact | उद्देश्य और प्रभाव

Minister of State for Steel Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma ने Rajya Sabha में बताया कि
pilot projects का उद्देश्य steelmaking से carbon emissions कम करना है,
क्योंकि यह उद्योग देश के सबसे energy-intensive sectors में से एक है।

Hydrogen के प्रयोग से coal पर निर्भरता कम होगी और emissions में significant reduction आएगा।

🏢 Pilot Projects & Participation | पायलट परियोजनाएँ और भागीदारी

अब तक चार pilot projects award किए जा चुके हैं:

• 1 project: central public sector enterprise

• 3 projects: private-sector steel plants

🌱 Green Steel & Certification | ग्रीन स्टील और प्रमाणन

भारत ने net-zero emissions by 2070 लक्ष्य के तहत green/low-carbon steel को बढ़ावा देने के कई कदम उठाए हैं।

• Ministry of Steel ने 23 दिसंबर 2024 को Green Steel Taxonomy notify की।

• इस framework से low-emission steel को define और categorize किया गया।

• अब तक 43 private steel units ने Green Steel Certificates प्राप्त किए हैं।

ये plants 11.6 million tonnes/year combined capacity वाले हैं और
7.1 million tonnes/year green steel currently produce करते हैं।

Certification से और अधिक कंपनियों को cleaner technologies adopt करने और sustainable production की ओर shift करने में मदद मिलेगी।

📑 Roadmap & Action Plan | रोडमैप और कार्य योजना

Ministry of Steel ने “Greening the Steel Sector in India: Roadmap and Action Plan” रिपोर्ट जारी की है।

• Report में 14 task forces के recommendations पर आधारित long-term strategies दी गई हैं।

• यह sector को guide करती है कि कैसे Indian steel industry net-zero roadmap में meaningful contribution दे सकती है।
