Union Commerce & Industry Minister पीयूष गोयल ने कहा कि भारत rules-based multilateral trading system के लिए पूरी तरह committed है और World Trade Organization (WTO) के साथ मिलकर global trade को expand करने के लिए काम करने को तैयार है।
गोयल ने Geneva में आयोजित UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) के 16वें session के दौरान WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala से मुलाकात की।
उन्होंने social media platform X (Twitter) पर लिखा —
“Emphasized India’s strong commitment to a rules-based multilateral trading system and willingness to work with WTO to expand global trade.”
Minister ने कहा कि WTO chief से मिलना और constructive discussions करना काफी “productive and encouraging” रहा।
सत्र के दौरान, गोयल ने World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) के Director General Daren Tang से भी मुलाकात की।
उन्होंने पोस्ट में लिखा —
“As India-WIPO partnership marks its 50th anniversary, we discussed ways to leverage India’s vibrant innovation and IP ecosystem for deeper collaboration.”
इससे पहले, Brussels यात्रा से पहले, पीयूष गोयल ने EU’s Trade & Economic Security Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič के साथ India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) पर लंबित मुद्दों को सुलझाने के लिए एक सार्थक बातचीत की।
गोयल ने Šefčovič की पोस्ट को repost करते हुए लिखा —
“Encouraging to see both sides reaffirming commitment towards redefining our trade and investment relations.”
Šefčovič ने भी अपनी पोस्ट में कहा —
“Glad to reconnect with Minister Goyal ahead of his Brussels visit. Our shared goal is to advance progress and take trade and investment ties to a new level.”
सत्र के साइडलाइन में, गोयल ने European Commission’s Executive VP Teresa Ribera Rodríguez से भी मुलाकात की और clean, fair & competitive transition पर bilateral discussions कीं।
