Rajshree Upadhyaya | Business Remedies | March 25,2025 | Shravan and Sanjay Kumaran’s journey into the world of technology began at an age when most children were only starting to explore their hobbies. Born and raised in Chennai, India, these two brothers displayed an early fascination with computers, a curiosity nurtured by their father, an IT professional. Their childhood was filled with PowerPoint presentations, coding experiments, and endless hours of exploring what technology could create. What started as a playful engagement soon turned into a deep-seated passion, leading them to take their first steps into software development even before they reached their teenage years.
Their unwavering enthusiasm led them to co-found GoDimensions in 2011, an initiative that set them apart as some of the youngest entrepreneurs in the tech industry. Shravan, at 12 years old, took on the role of President, while his younger brother Sanjay, just 10 at the time, assumed the position of CEO. Together, they envisioned a company that would create simple yet effective mobile applications, catering to a global audience. But their journey was not without its challenges. Before they launched their first successful app, they had already developed and tested over 150 applications, each iteration refining their skills and teaching them valuable lessons about the complexities of software development.
Their breakthrough came with “Catch Me Cop,” a game that quickly gained traction on the Apple App Store. This early success fueled their ambition, leading them to develop more applications across multiple platforms, including Android and Windows. Among their notable creations were “Alphabet Board,” an interactive learning tool for children, “Prayer Planet,” which provided prayers from different religions, and “Emergency Booth,” a dialer app designed for quick access to emergency contacts. The simplicity and practicality of their apps resonated with users worldwide, resulting in over 150,000 downloads across 60 countries.
Recognition followed swiftly. In 2012, Apple acknowledged them as the world’s youngest mobile app developers, a title that brought them into the global spotlight. The Confederation of Indian Industry named them the world’s youngest CEOs, further solidifying their status as prodigies in the tech world. Their accomplishments led to features in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and The Economic Times, along with honors such as the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Award and a place in Forbes Asia’s “30 Under 30” list.
Their innovation was not limited to mobile applications. As technology advanced, so did their ambitions. They delved into virtual reality, creating GoVR, an affordable alternative to expensive VR headsets. Beyond their work in development, they took on roles as inspirational speakers, sharing their journey at prestigious platforms such as TEDx, IIM Bangalore, and industry conferences. Their message remained clear—age is never a barrier to innovation.
Even with their entrepreneurial achievements, they never lost sight of education. Pursuing degrees in Computer Science at Texas A&M University, they continued to expand their knowledge, determined to merge their technical expertise with their business aspirations. Their vision remains as ambitious as ever—seeing their applications reach half of the world’s smartphones while using technology to drive social change, particularly in digital literacy.
What makes their story truly remarkable is not just their early success, but their resilience, passion, and ability to inspire a new generation of young innovators. Shravan and Sanjay Kumaran have proven that with the right mindset, dedication, and support, even the youngest minds can make a lasting impact in the ever-evolving world of technology.
